During the week we will sew up a fantastic new bag pattern that is perfect for beginners to bag making – but all abilities too! This is a free tutorial and I don’t gate keep so I’m sure you will learn a new tip or two even if you are more advanced.

What are we sewing?
A really cute beginner friendly pattern! We will be making the Valina bag. It’s the one in the pictures on this page. It has a top zipper closure and a feature heart cut out. It sews up quick and is perfect for all fabrics (but we recommend you use quilting cotton for at least your first one).
When is the challenge?
The challenge is held live over a week from Monday to the following Monday. This challenge is going to be 11th September to 17nd May 2026.
It’s completely online. All tutorials are live and the replay is available for you to catch up.
I see you're in the UK, Can I join from another country?
Of course! We have participants from all over the world. You are most welcome no matter which country you are based in. The lives are filmed UK time. But, if you can’t make the lives, you are able to watch afterwards in your own time for a week after the live – with an option to keep access for longer if you want to.
Where is the challenge held?
The challenge has live tutorials held over 4 days within a special pop up facebook group. All of the challenge is held within Facebook with communication via email.
Don’t worry if you can’t join the lives though, you can watch them in your own time whenever you like. They stay up in the facebook group for a week after the last live and there is an option to keep access for longer after – more on that during the challenge.
If you have joined us and haven’t been let into the facebook group, please remember that the group will not open until Friday 8th May. You haven’t missed anything as nothing is happening until that date.
Do I have to be on Facebook?
Yes, I’m afraid you do. All the videos are recorded live within the facebook group. Why? Facebook love it or hate it is very well set up for these kinds of challenges. There has been many who have actually joined facebook just for the challenge!

I've never made a bag before - is this for me?
Yes! Every pattern in the studio 7t7 challenges are beginner friendly. This bag is a small project and comes together quickly – don’t worry Emma and the community you are sewing with will help you!
I go through lots of tips and tricks and you will have a lot of support from others in the challenge – what have you got to loose?
I've made a lot of bags before - is this for me?
Yes! We often have very experienced bag makers in the challenges! We welcome all abilities.
