The advent calendar for bag makers...
Day 12 brings something extra special because it is a brand new Studio 7t7 design. You all loved the rulers we created for last years box, so I knew I wanted to create another fun ruler for all.
This ruler is inspired by and helped to create with 7t7 Club member Stacy who was looking for a better solution to the ruler that she was using.
And of course I had to have a glitter finish to this acrylic inch ruler. It is created specifically for bag makers. It is compact, and surprisingly versatile for lots of your creations.
Alongside the rivet placement holes that make spacing hardware quick and accurate, this ruler has guides for both 1″ and 1.5″ webbing. This makes it perfect for checking strap widths, marking folds and ensuring everything sits neatly before you sew or place rivets. No more guessing or hoping your rivet placement is centred. A quick check and you are sorted. You may also notice that the placements are slightly different to the webbing placements on the other rivet ruler from last year’s advent box, meaning the two work really well together.
One side of this ruler includes 1/4″ and 3/4″ placements. The other side includes 3/8″ and 5/8″. These are the measurements bag makers constantly so I’ve made them easier to read – simply flip the ruler around depending on which measurement you are after. The entire ruler also has a half inch grid throughout which helps with quick alignment on the go.
And yes, it sparkles. The subtle glitter in the acrylic adds a touch of fun without affecting visibility which makes it one of those tools that feels joyful to use as well as practical. Because it is clear, you can still see your fabric underneath which helps with precise marking and placement.
I designed this ruler for the 24 Days of Bag Making because I wanted to include something that supports accuracy and confidence. It is compact enough to keep beside your machine and detailed enough to genuinely improve your workflow. I hope you find it a really useful tool and it’s definitely one of my favourite items from this box.
