The advent calendar for bag makers...
Day 23 is another bespoke and exclusive item to the box! Today’s parcel includes two metres of number five zipper tape with silver teeth, chosen specifically to work with the materials already revealed in the box.
The colour way of this zipper tape matches the striped webbing and the fabric from earlier days, making it easy to create a cohesive bag without having to hunt for coordinating supplies.
Number five zipper tape is ideal for bag making. It is strong enough for everyday use, smooth to open and close, and works well for both exterior zips and internal pockets. It gives structure without adding unnecessary bulk, which makes it suitable for a wide range of bag styles.
The silver teeth are a deliberate choice. They match the matt silver zipper pulls and hardware included throughout the calendar, so your finished bag looks considered and consistent. Small details like this are what lift a handmade bag from homemade to polished.
Having continuous zipper tape also gives you flexibility. You can cut exactly the length you need for each project, add your zipper pulls before installation and avoid being limited by fixed zip sizes. With two metres included, you have enough for multiple smaller projects or one larger make.
Not sure how to add a pull to zipper tape? Don’t worry you can watch a full video here; it’s not as hard as it looks once you get the hang of it.
