The advent calendar for bag makers...

Day 8 and we have another item designed by me. I wanted to design a square sew on label that can be used for any make. I have included 5 for you to add to your projects. Sew them inside a bag or out – the choice is yours!

There is a double folded edge so it creates a nicer finish than 4 raw edges.

Looking for some sew in label tips? Here’s some to get you sewing in labels like a pro…

1. Start your sewing mid edge. Never on a corner. Your eye is drawn to the corners of the work, so if there’s any discrepancies in the start and end of the stitch you won’t see it so easily if it’s in the middle of a stitch line.

2. Try and have your needle finish in the same hole that you started in to create the illusion of a continuous line.

3. Don’t back stitch when you start and stop! Instead, leave long tails and pull the thread through to the back of the work. Tie all 4 threads into a double knot. (You could burn the ends or use fray check to make it even stronger!).

4. Want to keep your label in place before sewing? Use some sewing double sided tape to keep it in place. This is a game changer and will create that straight edge you are looking for.
