The advent calendar for bag makers...
Day 7 brings something simple but genuinely transformative. Two matt silver zip pulls. They might seem like small hardware pieces but they make a noticeable difference to the finish of a handmade bag.
These pulls have a lovely soft sheen that feels modern and clean. Matt silver pairs beautifully with almost any colour palette, so whether you are using the purple shades from earlier in the calendar or experimenting with something completely different, these will match really nicely.
#5 zipper pulls is the size I always use as they are so versatile. I personally use them both inside and outside of the bags I create – that way you can be sure you have the right pull for the project and don’t have to have double the stash!
It is also a quick way to elevate a simple pouch or zipped pocket without changing the pattern at all. If you are newer to bag making, this is one of the easiest upgrades you can play with.
The other thing I love about these is the feel. They glide on smoothly and have a reassuring weight, which instantly makes a project feel more professional when you zip it open and closed. Small detail, big impact.
Not sure how to add a pull to zipper tape? Don’t worry you can watch a full video here; it’s not as hard as it looks once you get the hang of it.
Or a shorter video can be seen here.
